Thimbles is owned by Alma who has worked for over twenty years making and repairing clothing for ladies, gentlemen and children.
Thimbles originally started in the back room of "Smithard Tailors" making dresses and taking over the clothing alterations side of "Smithard Tailors" business.
Alma opened her own shop on the 18th May 2011 after Smithard Tailors had closed and the business was moved into newly refurbished premises.
Since opening the new shop and even during a recession the business has grown with orders coming by word of mouth as the number of past customers has grown.
Alma is now in the position of taking on staff to assist in the shop and is giving training to a fashion design student.
In February 2012 after a request by Alma, this website went online and is designed and managed by Alma's husband Kevin.
